The Author's Story

This little book was written over 20 years ago. I was just out of college and teaching in a Pre-K classroom. I wanted to teach colors to my little ones in a fun way. I wrote this as a rhyming poem. After unsuccessfully searching for an illustrator, I decided to draw my own pictures. It was good enough for my classroom teaching and I used it as a teacher-made book. I added little flash cards and did hands-on activities with my children after reading the book. I placed it in my classroom library and watched them pick it up and read the words and look for the colors around the classroom. Just as I had done it with them. I submitted it for publication and received a contract, but something seemed off, so I declined the offer. I didn't feel too great about my illustrations. I was then offered another opportunity but again I put it on the back shelf. In 2012, I became friends with an artist and developed a wonderful friendship. This year I finally pulled it out of the dark and asked Feda Zidan (@fedoo311), a brilliant artist to illustrate it and here we are! I am so grateful for her talent and collaboration. She did her absolute best to bring my words and visions to life! I am truly blessed, and I owe God all the praise! Next is the Spanish version!
